For those of you who are asking me what Sluagh Cu means:
Sluagh—Pronounced sloo-aah(Host or Fairy Host) are malevolent Irish and Scottish Highland fairies (Sluag), the Hosts of the Unforgiven Dead. They fly about in black clouds up and down the face of the Earth. They are associated with the Unseelie Court and the Wild Hunt. Sometimes they are seen as sky elementals, which may be closer to their original role as spirits of storms and winter weather.
Cu—Pronounced coo– Gaelic for ‘dog’ The black dog has almost always been an omen of death and there are hundreds of accounts of black dogs all over England, Scotland, and Ireland; with local names like: Black Shuck, Old Shuck, Old Shock, Barguest, Black Shag, Gurt Dog, Padfoot, Hooter, Moddey Dhoo, and many others. They are usually described as being larger than regular dogs, have red, green, yellow or burning saucer eyes and frightening unearthly bellows (howling). In addition to single black dogs there are packs of spectral hounds, some of which are accompanied by the Wild Hunt, these are seen all over Europe and include the Gabriel hounds, Gabble Retchets, Dandy Dogs, Yeff Hounds, Wisht Hounds, and the Cwm Annwn. The Wild Hunt is usually also associated with death and disaster.
All over the world there are tales of fairies and fae happenings (though each culture has different names for them, all have the same stories)....so one can only wonder, can so many different cultures and peoples be wrong?
Yes I am a mythology nut.
